Length in inches x Width in inches / 360 = lbs needed
For instance:
For a twin size blanket measuring 40" x 75", you will need
40 x 75 / 360 = 8.3 lbs.

In the metric system, I calculate it this way:
Length in cm x Width in cm / 2300 = lbs needed
Using the same twin size, measuring 100 cm x 190 cm:
100 x 190 / 2300 = 8.3 lbs
